Carol Rimmer, Director, Doctors Technology OfficE Doctors of BC
Carol is a veteran health leader with more than 30 years’ experience in the health sector. She holds a BSc in Microbial and Cellular Biology from the University of Calgary and a Masters in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta. After 8 years working in medical research at the UofC Faculty of Medicine, and completing her MHSA, Carol followed her passion and focused her career on analytics, informatics, and quality improvement. She worked in the Calgary Health Region for many years, holding a variety of positions including Director, Research; and Director, Quality Improvement and Health Information.
In 2007, Carol and her husband decided to leave the corporate rat race and moved to the Sunshine Coast here in BC where Carol managed primary care clinics in Gibsons and Sechelt. However she missed being part of larger efforts to create system change and in 2010, Carol joined Doctors of BC as Director with the Physician Information Technology Office (PITO). She now leads the Doctors Technology Office which formed at the end of the PITO program to provide ongoing IM/IT support for physicians.
