Social robots are intelligent machines designed to assist humans in some of the most intimate areas of human life, with the potential to collect, use and disclose unprecedented amounts of personal information. Sinziana Gutiu will present an evening discussion exploring the types of social robots in the marketplace, the privacy concerns that may arise in human-robot social interactions, the privacy laws that regulate this technology in Canada, and other future considerations.
Sinziana Gutiu is a privacy lawyer working in the Policy Group of the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC. She has practised law in the areas of cyber liability, privacy law, professional liability, insurance law and commercial litigation both at international and boutique law firms in Vancouver. Sinziana is an Executive member of the BC Canadian Bar Association Privacy and Freedom of Information Section, and sits on the IAPP Canadian Advisory Board.
